I recently had the pleasure of speaking at the Social Licence and Stakeholder Engagement Conference in Perth. The presentation focused on providing tips, tools and models for planning and implementing community engagement processes in the mining sector.     I thought this was very good, especially the note about putting yourself in their shoes, and encouraging proponents to organize.

        And a bit more on ‘putting yourself in other peoples shoes’. As a facilitator involved in community engagement, doing this helps keep me focused on maintaining a neutral stance – it’s one area I have to be ultra-clear on, especially if dealing with a ‘hot’ topic
